1 review for Philippine Siren

  1. Dan Pope

To start, my booking experience was very efficient and provided all the information I needed to ensure I clearly understood what to expect from the Philippines Siren trip. Once on board the Philippines Siren I found the boat to be well maintained and very clean. The deck, common areas and cabins are in excellent condition and the daily cleaning was impressively detailed. My cabin was cleaned every day and every morning while I drank my coffee I watched in amazement as the deck hands would use kitchen scrubbing pads with soapy water to clean around the rope bolt anchors, railings, poles, etc. I was very impressed.

I found the boat safety / emergency briefings and actual drills to be the most thorough of the 10 live-aboard trips I’ve been on. They not only take you through an abandon ship drill but, they go through all the supplies that would be on the life boats as well.

The dive briefing were also outstanding. They were also very thorough providing all the information regarding entry, depth, currents, direction, and what type of fish and other critters (with photos during the briefings) we could expect to see. They also did a great job at getting to know what specific divers were really interested in seeing so they would emphasize those during the briefings.

The diving experience was also very good. They use two dinghies and broke the divers into three small groups of six divers. This is very important to me so the dive guide can spend time to help the divers find what they are looking for which makes for a much more satisfying dive experience. We had some divers really interested in small critters which the dive guides did a great job at finding for them.

The dives were a great mix of small critters, big critters, muck, hard corals, soft corals, no currents, slight currents (nothing heavy), with some good and bad visibility. I really enjoyed seeing the Thrasher Sharks, Whale Sharks, Turtles, Frog Fish, Scorpion Fish, Devil Fish, Barracudas, Cuddle Fish, Squids, various schools of fish and just the overall quality of the hard & soft corals.

Lastly, I found the crew to be absolutely fantastic!! Everyone seemed to work well together helping to take care of the guests pre & post dives, preparing food or cleaning, they all had great attitudes and were just a lot of fun to be with.

Overall, it was an excellent diving experience which matched-up pretty well with what they advertise and the booking agent communicated to me. It was not my best live aboard experience but, I really appreciated how well the advertising accurately described the actual diving experience so I knew what to expect.
